BEFORE SETTING OUT FOR GORILLA TRACKING.

  • Age Restriction: You must be at least 15 years old to participate in gorilla tracking.
  • Health Requirements: If you’re showing symptoms of a cold or other infectious illness, you won’t be allowed to trek gorillas.
  • Group Size: Only eight visitors are allowed to trek a single group of habituated mountain gorillas per day.
  • Permits: You’ll need a gorilla trekking permit issued by the Wildlife Authority.
  • Briefing: Before heading out, your lead guide will brief you on gorilla trekking rules and regulations.
  • Safety Precautions: Sanitize your hands, wear a face mask, and maintain social distancing during the briefing and throughout the trek.
  • Equipment: Keep your gear light to minimize the need for porters.

WHEN YOU ARE WITH THE GORILLAS:

  • Maintain a 10m (32.8ft) distance from the gorilla
  • Smoking, eating, and drinking are not permitted during the tracking

  • Visits are limited to one hour per gorilla group per day
  • Do not use flash photography.
  • Trekking Etiquette: Keep your voices low and follow your guide’s instructions while trekking through the jungle.
