Karenge Bush Camp is set in Akagera National Park, the only Big 5 game safari park in Rwanda. Karenge is a seasonal safari camp in Akagera National Park and is often set in the location that provides easier access by visitors interested in short game drives from the Northern end of the park.

Karenge Bush Camp accommodates up to 12 visitors in its comfortable 6 charming canvas tents. Each of the tents features 2 cozy camp beds, reed mat floors, camp chairs, and solar lights. At every tent, visitors have a chance to enjoy their privacy. The main area of the camp features a dining tent with a small lounge and outdoor firepit surrounded by chairs where guests can enjoy exceptional views of the Kilala plains.
Karenge Camp is always open to visitors on wildlife tours in Akagera National Park all year round except April.

Karenge Bush Camp comprises 6 Meru tents and all are twin tents. Each tent consists of 2 camp beds with comfortable mattresses, mosquito nets, and bedding. There is a private bucket shower and flush toilet per tent, and warm water is available for visitors. The Camp also has USB charging points in tents and solar power for lighting. Karenge Camp offers full board -meaning all meals are included in the rate. The Camp also has communal and separate tables.

Community guide-led game drives
Choose to take part in the game drives led by a trained community guide and experience something unusual. The community guides are available but on request and an additional fee applies to cater for the guide’s stay and meals while at Karenge Bush Camp.
Game drives in Akagera offer a great for you to encounter different wildlife. The notable wild animals to expect to come across during the guided game drive in Akagera include giraffes, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, antelope families, and many bird species. Akagera National Park boasts over 525 bird species including shoebill storks.
Night drives
Embark on night game drives in a 4×4 safari vehicle with an experienced guide. During the night drives, expect to explore the enriching Kilala Plains where you stand a chance to encounter predators and other nocturnal species.
Getting to Karenge Bush Camp
To access Karenge Bush Camp, take the Lake Shore route to Junction 36 and turn left, then follow the route to Junction 35 and take your right. Proceed for about 12 km and take your right hand where you can drive 4 km to reach the Camp. From Kigali, spend about 2.5 hours driving up to Akagera National Park where you can connect to Karenge Camp via the Southern gate. The Northern gate of Akagera is the nearest gate to Karenge and is the only exit gate as well.
